Adjustable Shade & Weather Systems

Louvered Pergola Systems

Adjustable double-walled aluminum louvers offering customized shade angles and 100% dry overhead protection when completely closed.

Adjustable Patios and Sun Control

Adjustable louvered pergolas are ideal for South Florida property owners who want a dynamic outdoor space. Standard pergolas offer static shade, but louvers rotate to block low-angle afternoon sun while keeping air circulating. They are perfect for outdoor lounges, dining zones, and poolside decks.

Key Benefits

  • Flexible Shade Control: Angle the louvers to filter sunlight or block it completely.
  • Full Rain Protection: Interlocking louver slats form a watertight roof seal when closed.
  • Natural Airflow: Angling the slats upward creates a chimney effect, venting hot air out.
  • Smart Architecture: Enhances the functional footprint of your patio year-round.

Louver Design Options & Limits

Our custom louver profiles are extruded in heavy-gauge 6060-T6 structural aluminum to handle high wind forces.

Design Flexibility

Adjust louvers using manual hand-crank options or add motorized controls. Add internal gutters, LED lighting strips, or custom frame finishes.

Technical Limitations

Louver slats themselves have span limits (typically 12 to 14 feet) before requiring an intermediate support gutter beam to prevent bowing. Louvers must be opened during high wind events to allow wind pressure to pass through safely.

Louver Installation Workflow

We verify and install structural framing and pivot pins to guarantee smooth operation.

01

Frame Alignment

We assemble and level the main perimeter gutter beams on support columns.

02

Louver Fitting

Individual aluminum louvers are anchored into nylon-sleeved structural pivot pins for quiet movement.

03

Drive Linkage Setup

We connect the louver arrays to a central manual or electric actuator rod for synced movement.

Louvered FAQ

Are louvered pergolas completely waterproof?

When fully closed, interlocking louver gaskets form a watertight seal that handles normal rain. During heavy storm downpours, minor misting or drips may occur, and water drains through internal gutters.

Should louvers remain closed during hurricanes?

No. During high-velocity wind events (hurricanes), the louvers should be kept partially open (typically at a 45 to 90-degree angle) to allow wind pressure to vent through the structure, avoiding uplift damage.
